Physical Therapy

We at Advanced Comprehensive Medical Center PA also provide the following physiotherapy:
Electrical stimulation - used in muscle re-education and strengthening. Increases blood flow, reduces edema, relaxes muscle spasms and increases joint flexibility.
Mechanical traction - used to re-establish curves of the spine, facilitates distraction of joint facets, reduces muscle spasms, edema, tissue congestion, reduces fibrotic tissues and adhesions.
Ultrasound - Ultrasound utilizes high-frequency sound waves to penetrate deep into soft tissue. The vibration of these injured tissues causes vasodilation of blood vessels increasing oxygen, minerals, and nutrients to the area and removes cell debris.
Fomentation (hot pack) - used for superficial heat induction, causes vasodilation, increase in nerve conduction velocity, cutaneous circulation, reduction in skeletal muscle tension and pain.
Cryotherapy (cold pack) - used for acute musculoskeletal sprains and some neuromuscular conditions. Cause vasoconstriction, reduction in nerve conduction velocity, skeletal muscle tension, pain, muscle spasms, swelling or edema.
PNF stretches - designed to rehabilitate or re-establish functional integrity to joint, muscle(s) or area. Used to increase joint flexibility, muscle strength, muscle tone, endurance or coordination of movement.
